Sony’s cross-platform beta for Fortnite — launching today — appears like a white flag flown inside face on the future. The PlayStation platform was the past holdout on cross-play, fighting the concept that software is better than hardware. But right this moment, nothing is more robust than Fortnite. This is an extremely big deal. Sony has been in the unique situation because the sales leader in this Fortnite Traps console generation, whilst being really the only platform holder to not embrace cross-platform play. It made sense for the organization to want to help keep PlayStation fans in a very walled garden as long as possible.
