Dev Blog: Updates to Random Queues

Greetings adventurers, Asterdahl here to speak to you regarding the new Random Queues feature that launched in Swords of Chult. There’s been an abundance of discussion and I’d love to take a moment now to talk about a lot with the hot button issues, things we’re doing to cope with some of your concerns, as well as the goals in the feature overall.

We have some in the immediate changes. First, random queues weren't intended to decrease anyone’s stronghold progression, so we’re setting up the “Random Dungeon” daily dungeoneering shard mission to Buy NW Astral Diamonds all level 70 players. In other words, level 70 players can have access to earning shards from three random queues: daily skirmish, daily dungeon and daily epic dungeon. This means that those that can tackle the epic dungeon random queue will earn more each day than had been possible and people who can tackle the dungeon and skirmish can earn equally as many because they could earn before Swords of Chult launched.

Speaking from the skirmish random queue, we’ve heard everyone’s feedback which the sudden jump to needing 10,000 item level to queue for random skirmishes, due to The Merchant Prince’s Folly, might be stressful. So to the time being, we’re treatment of new skirmish on the random skirmish queue. This means that you will will no longer end up in The Merchant Prince’s Folly in the event you queue for just a random skirmish, and that you will no longer need to fulfill the requirements for your skirmish to queue to get a random skirmish. Of course, you may still queue for The Merchant Prince’s Folly directly. We’ll be monitoring the experience in that skirmish, at some point inside the future, we’ll be returning it towards the random skirmish queue once people have had serious amounts of adjust and enhance their item level.

When possible we’d all prefer players to experiment with with their friends and guildmates, and for that reason we haven’t excluded an opportunity to queue using a full group, but we’d love to create an experience which is generally positive when players do queue independently or in the partial group.

The proven fact that astral diamond bonuses were paid identically from any queue launched a world where a small subset of queues were ever run. If new players didn’t have this tribal knowledge they may end up waiting in the unpopular queue forever. Additionally, we don’t think it’s particularly exciting to own the same dungeon forever. Of course, we understand for many person it’s about efficiency and that’s why we created a more varied go through the most efficient one.
