Neverwinter servers rolled back seven hours after in-game currency exploit

Severs for Cryptic's MMO Neverwinter were rolled back seven hours over the weekend following an exploit that allowed players to mmoah build up billions in in-game currency, based on posts about the forums of publisher Perfect World Entertainment. The servers were removed briefly yesterday for your rollback, erasing progress players' made between 8:20 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. ET.

According into a post by Neverwinter community team manager Noel Holmes, a bug was discovered early Sunday morning by "a smaller group of villainous Nashers," who used the bug to use the game's Open Beta Giveaway and Auction House to accumulate large amounts of Astral Diamonds."Rather than enable the malicious efforts of a few unsavory players linger and continually impact the game's economy and balance once we progress through these later stages of Open Beta, we've got made the almost impossible decision to rollback Neverwinter into a time shortly prior to a abuse and exploitation began," Holmes wrote. The bug continues to be corrected plus the company has brought actions resistant to the group who discovered the ban, "including and not limited to" giving away permanent bans from Neverwinter.

The servers get home online and beta testing has resumed, even so the Auction House and Astral Diamond exchange at the moment are inactive. Holmes wrote extensive testing will likely be performed on techniques to ensure the exploit is resolved before bringing it online.Perfect World will point virtual gifts to NW Diamonds any or all players as being a thank you for bearing using the rollback.
